Aspendos is an ancient city 48 km away from city center of Antalya and 16 km inland from the mediterranean sea. Aspendos theatre was built in second century by the greek architect zenon as a roman structure, it was used by selcuks as a caravansary and repaired by them several times. Aspendos was founded by greeks around 1000 b.c. Aspendos is known for having the best preserved theatre of antiquity. Aspendos has diameter of 96 meters and the theatre provided seating for audience of 7000 people. Today it is a place where is organized annual aspendos opera and ballet festival and opens to public.
